Surely, you all can
remember the famous Lewis Carroll story about the Mad Hatter's Tea Party
from Alice in Wonderland? All attendees are encouraged to dredge your
childhood fantasies and create the most outrageous headgear possible.
For example, did you have a Carmen Miranda fantasy in your lifetime? If
so, then stack some fruit high up on an old favorite hat. Are you a
latent southern belle? Find a sunhat such as Scarlett wore in Gone with
the Wind. Perhaps, you are the cool, suave male type such as Bogart in
Casablanca; then wear a slouched fedora. Maybe you are one of the
Pirates of the Caribbean and need a funky tri-corner. Or are you the
scarecrow from The Wizard of Oz? Or your vanity says you are Harrison
Ford in Raiders of the Lost Ark. Or are you Barbara from Funny Girl? Or,
maybe you are just a queen-like Mum and need a crown. Are you a giant
Leprechaun? Maybe you are Tweedle-Dee or Tweedle-Dum. It does not take a
whole lot of money, just a bit of creativity.
Just a few miles north
of the Doubletree Hotel is a delightful shop called the 'House of Humor'
with a multitude of "hatting" options. (To get there from
Doubletree Drive, turn right on Golf Course Drive, at the next light
turn right on Roberts Lake Drive which will lead you right onto Santa
Rosa Avenue, at the next light, proceed to 3403 Santa Rosa Avenue, about
two miles on the left.) Call 707-206-9915 and tell them the Mad
Hatter sent you!
So, get your hat to be properly festive for what promises to be a
fantastic night of revelry and dancing. The local live band which will
be playing is a relatively new group that has been getting tremendous
radio play in the North Bay Area and has won major battle of the bands
competitions. Frobeck specializes in funky blues rock dance music. We
are very fortunate to have the soon-to-be famous group entertaining us
at Capricopia 2008.
