Rohnert Park, California

If you were fortunate enough to be part of Capricultural Revolution in 1976 and Capricultural Evolution in 1990, the Doubletree in Rohnert Park is just a few miles south on Santa Rosa Avenue from where the host facility was for those two events. (That site is now a CostCo mall complex!) Rohnert Park is really just a relatively new suburb incorporated directly south and adjacent to Santa Rosa. It is also home of Sonoma State University. Getting there could not be easier for air travelers. The Airport Express is a regional airporter service that serves both San Francisco and Oakland International Airports. It will pick passengers up at baggage curbside at either airport and deliver them directly to the lobby of the Doubletree in Rohnert Park, which is a routinely scheduled stop. (Expect to pay about $30 one way and a travel time of one and a half to two hours depending on time of day.) If you wish to do a rental car, the Doubletree is located on the east side of the 101 Freeway and clearly visible. While not recommended, there are limited flights into the Charles M. Schulz/Sonoma County Regional Airport just north of Santa Rosa, about ten miles away. (Yes, this area is homebase for Charlie Brown and Snoopy; larger than live sculptures of the famous duo are featured by businesses all around the area, as well as the famous ice rink with the attached Snoopy Shoppe!) Access is also possible from the Sacramento International Airport, but is not recommended as there is no regularly scheduled airporter service, traffic on I-80 can be impossible, and the driving distance is about 100 miles.
